Walter Harper, Jr. age 89 of Harned, KY passed away August 16, 2021 at University Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on October 17, 1931, the son of the late Walter Harper, Sr. and Ada Kathleen Mingus Harper. Walter was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church. He worked many years as custodian for Breckinridge Memorial Hospital and then retired from the Breckinridge County Board of Education as custodian of the high school. Walter, known as the "Coke Man" to many for his large collection of Coke memorabilia enjoyed antiquing, shopping yard sales for the perfect find, dining out and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Geneva, grandson Josh Lucas, siblings Everett, and Jim Harper and Margaret Brooks.
Walter is survived by 4 children: Michael 'Randy' Poole and his wife Karen of Louisville, KY, Linda Smithers and her husband Ron of Louisville, KY, Cathy Lucas and her husband Loye of Harned, KY and Melissa Nord of Louisville, KY
Grandchildren: Thomas Sturgeon, Mychael Poole, Morgan Poole, and Matthew and Heather Williams
Great grandchildren: Maya Poole, Macy Poole, Dallas Poole, Valerie Williams and another due September 3, 2021
Funeral services will be held at St. Romuald Catholic Church on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12 PM with Fr. Tony Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, 9 - 11:15 AM. The rosary will be recited at 11:15 AM. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the American Heart Association.
