Samuel Moorman Obituary

Samuel Henry "Sam" Moorman, age 96 of Glen Dean, KY died Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY. He was born in Glen Dean, KY on December 8, 1923, the son of the late Joseph D. and Cecil Dix Moorman. Sam was a member of Black Lick Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for over 76 years and taught Sunday school. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army and was a Mason with the Hardinsburg Lodge #67. He served on the Board of Breckinridge Memorial Hospital and Southern States. Sam was a farmer who enjoyed fishing and hunting arrowheads. He was an avid reader.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law: H L DeJarnette, brother: Joe Edison Moorman and sisters: Dorothy Dix Dean and Sue Alice Spelger.

Sam is survived by his wife Nell Moorman of Glen Dean, KY

son and daughter-in-law: Roger and Ronda Moorman of Glen Dean, KY

daughters: Marilyn Miller and her husband Max of Fordsville, KY and JoAnn DeJarnette of McQuady, KY

8 grandchildren: Lisa, Joe David. Lori, Angie, Amy, Michael, Matthew and Sarah

19 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren

1 sister: Judith Cordelia Chesney of Joplin, Missouri

Private graveside services will be held at Black Lick Cemetery with Bro. Billy Laslie officiating under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.
