Nellie Glenn Moorman, age 87 of Glen Dean, KY died Friday, June 19, 2020 at The Hospice House in Bowling Green, KY. She was born in Glen Dean on February 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Samuel Foster Smiley, Sr. and Pauline Jane Kessinger Smiley. Nell was a lifelong member of Black Lick Baptist Church where she served as pianist and WMU director. She worked as a CNA at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital for over 20 years and was a bus driver transporting students to summer school. Nell was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, canning and visits from family and friends. She loved her family and they adored her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sam who died 4-28-2020, her son-in-law H L DeJarnette who died 1-11-20 and siblings Leonard Smiley, Samuel Smiley Jr., Calvin Smiley, Lydia Robertson, Margaret Owen, Lula Francis Henderson, Mary Thornberry, Pat Beatty and Hannah Louise Smiley.
Nell is survived by 3 children: Roger "Buck" Moorman and his wife Ronda of Glen Dean, KY, Marilyn Miller and her husband Max of Fordsville, KY and Joann DeJarnette of McQuady, KY.
8 grandchildren: Lisa, Joe David, Lori, Angie, Amy, Michael, Matthew and Sarah.
19 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren
Graveside services will be held at Black Lick Cemetery on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 12:30 PM with Bro. Billy Laslie officiating. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:30 AM - 12 PM. The number of those attending visitation shall be within the current health and safety directives. Please do not bring food or drink to the funeral home as they are not allowed at this time. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, please keep your personal condolences brief at the funeral home.
