Mildred Jewel (Hickerson) Shelman

Mildred Jewel Shelman, age 91 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away September 10, 2021 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Sample, KY on May 4, 1930, the daughter of the late Morris and Mary Logan Jolly Hickerson. Jewel was a Civil Service retiree. She was a member of the Sample United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and Red Hat Society. She loved her family and time spent with them. She had many interests, but travel, reading and old movies were her favorites.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Shelman and sister Veva Hickerson.

Jewel is survived by 2 sons: Shelby (Susan) Shelman of Hardinsburg, KY and Logan (Eva Klenner) Shelman of Newport News, VA

1 grandson: John (Madeline) Shelman and 1 great grandson: Andrew Shelman

2 sisters: Marcella 'Teddy' (Jarret) Kinder of Cloverport, KY and Ruth (Thomas) Matney of LaGrange, KY

several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at the Hardinsburg United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11 AM with burial in the Jolly Cemetery in Sample, KY. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday after 9 AM.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Hardinsburg United Methodist Church or the Sample United Methodist Church.
