Mike Bennett

George Michael "Mike" Bennett, age 72 of Hardinsburg, KY died Sunday, February 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Harned, KY on September 21, 1947, the son of the late Howard and Pauline Shrewsbury Bennett. Mike was a member of Westview United Methodist Church, retired from Gates Rubber Company and a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed watching U K basketball, Breck. Co. Baseball or any activity that involved his children and grandchildren. One of his fondest memories was coaching a Babe Ruth Baseball team that won the Western Ky. State Tournament in 1997.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Kevin M. Bennett and sisters Ruellma Robinson and Yandell Bennett.

Mike is survived by Shirley, his wife of 51 years.

Daughter: Samantha Payne and her husband Scott of McQuady, KY

Sons: Jonathan Bennett and his wife Beth, Jeremy Bennett and his wife Lauren of Hardinsburg, KY

7 grandchildren: Dalton Payne (Felicia), Hunter Payne, Ava Kate, Maggie, Ansley, Trent and Cole Bennett

1 great granddaughter Mackenzie Payne who is due to arrive in June

Brothers: Howard "Sonny" Bennett and his wife Thelma of Harned, KY and Mark Bennett of Brandenburg, KY

Brothers and sisters-in-law: Billy and Joan Smiley, Lucy and Don Strickland, Nancy Hamilton

Several nieces and nephews including a special niece Glenmah Diller of Elizabethtown,KY

Funeral services will be held at Westview United Methodist Church 159 Westview Drive Westview, KY 40178 on Wednesday, 2-19-2020 at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will be in the Kingswood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home 308 South Hardin Street Hardinsburg, KY 40143 on Tuesday, 4-8 PM and Wednesday at the church 9-11 AM.
