Mary Ann (Wheatley) Johnson

Mary Ann Wheatley Johnson, age 89 of Hardinsburg, KY died Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on December 12, 1931, the daughter of the late William George and Mary Magdalene Henning Wheatley. Mary Ann was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Legion of Mary and Blue Army. She worked for many years in the St. Romuald School Cafeteria as well as the Dollar General Store. She was a member of Breckinridge County Homemakers. Mary Ann was one of nine children, so she always had best friends and playmates. She raised four children, who in return gave her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them and they adored her. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and cake decorating. She and her late husband Leroy enjoyed traveling to Bluegrass Music Festivals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leroy, daughter Margie Erwin Sweeney, grandson Colin Whitfill, brothers and sister Bobby, Jodie, Tom, Charlie, Pat and Leo Wheatley and Marty Kannapel.

Mary Ann is survived by 3 sons - Ron (Jamesetta) Whitfill and Darrell (Rita) Whitfill of Hardinsburg, KY, Charles (Fay) Whitfill of Campbellsville, KY

stepson - Donald Johnson of Big Spring, KY

22 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren

1 sister - Ursula Alexander of Louisville, KY

Funeral services will be held at St. Romuald Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 12 PM with Fr. Tony Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:30 - 11:30 am.
