Martha Gwendolyn (Collard) Norton

Martha Gwendolyn Norton, age 95 of Garfield, KY passed away October 21, 2023 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Big Clifty, KY on September 12, 1928, daughter of the late Nellie Ann Montgomery and Marvin Oscar Collard, Sr. Martha was a member of Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Breckinridge County Homemakers and Hardinsburg Order of Eastern Star. Many years ago, she worked as a clerk in the Kroger grocery in downtown Hardinsburg. She was a seamstress for Eleanor Beard and Galante Studios. Martha worked side by side with her husband taking care of the family farm. She enjoyed making quilts, china painting and playing the dulcimer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband W. B. "Dub" Norton and siblings Larry, Valentine, Gerald, Bob, Anita, Deloris, Marvie and WB.

Martha is survived by her daughter Marcia Blair and her husband Matthew of Harned, KY

2 grandchildren: Mindy Bryan and Melody Clark (Joe)

7 great grandchildren: Braeden and Ian Bryan; Canaan, Liam and Evangeline Clark; Sonja Shelton and Dorey Friend

3 great great grandchildren: Piper Shelton, Ellie and Parker Friend

2 sisters: Marilyn Gedling (Donnie) of Cloverport, KY and Maxine Orrendor (Tony) of Louisville, KY

Funeral services will be held at Freedom Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 1 PM with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday beginning at 10:30 AM. All times are central.
