Lovel Parish King, Jr., age 90 of Hardinsburg, KY died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on June 15, 1928, the son of L. P. King, Sr. and Alma Denham King. Lovel was a member and deacon of Hites Run Baptist Church. Over the years, he served as the church moderator and Sunday school superintendant. He was a familiar face at Taylor Used Cars for many years where he earned respect and loyalty from his customers. As a salesman, he had a love for cars, but John Wayne rated very high also. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Lovel loved his family and his extended family. He was known as Papaw King to the many children that were cared for by his wife Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Pate King, sisters Ruth Williams and Thera King, brothers Audie, William Stoy, Bobby and Teddy King.
Lovel is survived by 2 daughters - Patty Jackson and her husband Glenn of Hardinsburg, KY
Janet Dietsch and her husband Alan of Calvert City, KY
3 grandchildren: Denise Stakey, Clinton Dietsch and Mitch Jackson (Edie)
1 great grandson - Jase Linger
1 sister - Fern West of Port Charlotte, FL
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home 308 South Hardin Street Hardinsburg, KY 40143 on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will be in the Cloverport Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, 4-8 PM and Monday after 8 AM.
