Joyce Severs

Joyce Severs, age 58 of Harned, KY died Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital from complications of COVID. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on November 14, 1962, the daughter of the late Joseph R. Swink and Shirley Mae McHolan. Joyce grew up with two large families in the Rhodelia and Ammons communities. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, which was her childhood parish.

Joyce loved her family very much. She enjoyed vacationing with them, rooting them on in any competitions they were in, and the everyday joys of being a mother and nana. Joyce was a dedicated nurse who spent almost 30 years working at Patel Medical Center. She was a ray of sunshine for her patients and made many lasting friendship with them. Those fortunate enough to know her knew how warm her heart truly was. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, baking and shopping for antiques.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul, who died October 12, 2020, her twin brother Joseph "Little Joe" Swink and her grandparents Cliff and Mamie Jo McHolan and Louis and Augusta Swink.

Joyce is survived by her children: Nikki Peterson (Abby) of Union Star, KY and Erich Severs of Harned, KY

6 grandchildren: Chance, Chloe Mae, Cort, Caine, Marlow and Charlie

Brother: Scott Swink (Karen, Todd and Linsey) of Rhodelia, KY

Sister: Lynn Ramsey (Andy and Leslie) of Irvington, KY

Many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins

In keeping with the wishes of Joyce, the family has chosen cremation with a memorial service at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Rhodelia, KY on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2 PM eastern time.
