John William Kennedy, Jr. age 74 of McDaniels, KY died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Peoria, IL on September 7, 1945, the son of the late John and Beulah Mae Goatley Kennedy. He was a former employee of Vermont American. John was a missionary and was known to the children on his missions as Papaw. He was a best friend, big brother, a teacher and a problem solver. He could accomplish any task before him. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and traveling to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, brother Curtis Kennedy and sister Emma Smith.

John is survived by his wife Sharon Kennedy of McDaniels, KY

2 sons - Billy Kennedy (Cassidy) of Louisville and David Dennis (Pam) of Annetta, KY

3 grandchidlren: Trevor Kennedy, Kai and Willow Dennis

2 brothers: Jerry Kennedy (Mary Lee) of Michigan and Ray Kennedy (Catherine) of South Carolina

6 sisters: Anna Mae Drane of Garfield, KY, Louella Arnold of Glen Dean, KY, Pauline "Polly" Basham (George) of High Plains, KY, Dottie Matthews (Tommy) of Hardinsburg, KY, Aretta Greer (Randy) of Brandenburg, KY and Denise Hunt (Jerry) of Leitchfield, KY

sister-in-law: Helen Kennedy of Colorado

Private graveside services will be held at Sand Knob Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.
