James DeJarnette Obituary

James Eugene "Jim" DeJarnette, age 78 of Hardinsburg, KY died Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on March 3, 1942, the son of the late John Thomas and Regina Askin DeJarnette. Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired Communications Management Specialist with Civil Service. He attended St. Romuald Catholic Church, was a member of Hardinsburg VFW Post 5831 and NARFE. Jim enjoyed playing golf, cards and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law: Debbie DeJarnette.

Jim is survived by 2 daughters: Lauren DeJarnette (Micheal Scott, Jr.) of Louisville, KY and Dawn (Scott) Milby of Cave City, KY

3 grandchildren: Elena (Michael) Bardin, Elle DeJarnette and Emilee Milby

2 great grandchildren: June and Natalie Bardin

brother: John DeJarnette, Jr. of Columbus, IN

sisters: Carolyn Mattingly of Columbus, IN and Mary Ann (Chris) Skene of Hudson, FL

his best friend: Dorothy Stinnett of Harned, KY

family friend: Karen Barriger of Columbus, IN

Funeral services will be held at St. Romuald Catholic Church on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1 PM with Fr. Tony Jones officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, 10 AM - 12:30 PM.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility.
