Gloria Jean Newman

Gloria Jean Newman, age 84, a resident of Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021. She was born in Louisville, KY on November 27, 1936, the daughter of the late Frank C. and Ilene Watkins Chapman. Mrs. Newman was a homemaker who loved to cook, have family gatherings and she had a great sense of humor. Bingo was a favorite past time of hers and she also loved the Kentucky Derby. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Valley View Baptist Church. Gloria and her husband were members of the Honda Goldwing Motorcycle Club in Titusville, FL where they loved to attend weekly meetings and go on short trips with their friends and club members.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Rodney L. Newman, son Ted W. Newman, infant daughter Suzanne Newman and granddaughter Michelle D. Newman.

Gloria is survived by 4 children: Donald R. Newman of Louisville, KY, Charlene (Chris) Delegato of Orlando, FL, Norma (Dobie) Fentress of Hardinsburg, KY and Jennifer Whitaker of Louisville, KY.

8 grandchildren: Tabitha, Daniel, Brittany, Bobby, Christina, Emily, Katie and Sarah

12 great grandchildren with another expected in March.

In keeping with the wishes of Gloria, cremation was chosen with a memorial service  to be held at a later date at the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
