George Edward "Gee" Monarch, III

Retired Colonel and former County Judge Executive George E. "Gee" Monarch, III passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, February 27, 2021. He was born in Scottsville, KY on March 19, 1947, the son of George E. Monarch, Jr. and Emma Dee Shrewsbury Monarch. George was a graduate of Breckinridge County High School and the University of Kentucky. In 1995 he received his Master's Degree at the Pakistan Defense College. After a distinguished 28 year career in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam and later as a naval aviator, he retired in 1998. George held the office of County Judge Executive from January 6, 2003 to December 31, 2006. He was also an active member of Hardinsburg Baptist Church.

George is survived by his mother Emma Dee Monarch and his wife Kathy Blancett Monarch of Hardinsburg, KY

His son Dan Monarch (Christy Diebold) and their daughter, Mia of Louisville, KY

His sister Rebecca Monarch Brown (Dwight) of Hardinsburg, KY

A memorial service will be held at the Hardinsburg Baptist Church on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2 PM with full military honors to follow on the grounds of the church. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 4-8 PM.
