David Leland Penn, age 81 of Hardinsburg, KY died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Otway, Ohio on September 24, 1939, the son of the late Herbert and Demia Pridemore Penn. David retired from the Air National Guard. He served in the United States Air Force where he was a Medical Readiness supervisor. He was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger. David enjoyed traveling, nature walks and mushroom hunting. He had a dry sense of humor, but was a wonderful storyteller. David loved his family, but his grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in Papaw's heart. He was a member of the Eagle Clan of the Blue Creek/Shawnee tribe and was known as "Chobeka".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Walter, daughter Anita, grandson Scott and siblings Bill, Jack, Herbie, Nadine, Mary and Amelia.
David is survived by his wife Lela Penn of Hardinsburg, KY
children: Brian (Denise) Penn of Alpena, Michigan, Howard (Melissa) Collins of Middletown, Ohio, Connie (Steven) Wolfe of Hillman, Michigan, Deirdre (Archy) Wiseman of Kettering, Ohio and Sarah (Bill) Sullivan of El Paso, Texas
14 grandchildren: Laurrie, Shelbey, Joseph, Blake, Miranda, Virginia, Becky, Bell, Grayson, Maggie, Jessie, Justi, Camaya and Kayla
11 great grandchildren
2 sisters: Timmy Gill of Columbus, Ohio and Dorothy Deitz of Ohio
In keeping with the wishes of David, the family has chosen cremation with no services.
