Darlene Camp Obituary

Darlene Camp, age 70 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away August 2, 2021 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. She was born in McDaniels, KY on September 28, 1950, the oldest of 14 children of James Franklin "Buddy" and Kathleen Brown O'Donoghue. Darlene was a faithful member of St. Romuald Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a retired Civil Service Employee, having worked for 40 years at Fort Knox where she was an expanded functions dental assistant. She received several awards at her retirement, specifically the Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Award, which is the second highest award an Army civilian can receive and Distinguished Member of the United States Army Medical Regiment. She was a Kentucky Colonel. Darlene was a perfectionist in every aspect of her life. She enjoyed flower gardening, had the most perfect ferns and her lawn looked as if she cut each blade of grass by hand. She loved her daughter and grandchildren beyond words. Her life was filled with their activities and she was so proud of them. After retirement, she spent time at Breck. Co. Fitness where she exercised 4 days a week and enjoyed the friendships she made. Being the oldest of 14, she became their mother hen. They say it takes a village to raise a child, Darlene was the village. Her love and nurturing was very instrumental in the wonderful family she grew up with.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 siblings Connie Webster, Eddie O'Donoghue, Ricky O'Donoghue and Sandy Priest.
