Chester "Chuck" Bruington Obituary

Chester Keith “Chuck” Bruington, age 62 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away surrounded by those that loved him on Friday, March 2, 2018. He was born in Louisville, KY on January 9, 1956.

Chuck was a member of the Hardinsburg Baptist Church and the UK President’s Club.  He loved to watch UK sports especially basketball and attending UK football games.  Chuck also loved attending the Kentucky Sweet 16 Boys basketball tournament every year from an early age.  Chuck was part owner and operator of White Stone Company for over 30 years.  Chuck was a compassionate person and helped anyone he saw in need.  He was an inspiration to many who fought the same disease.  He loved life. He loved and believed in God.  He loved his family.  He loved to work. He loved farming with his son.  He would count his cattle and knew every cow and calf.  He helped coach T-ball, Little League and Babe Ruth.  He loved playing golf and taught his wife and children how to play. He was a lifelong member of the Breckinridge County Community Center.  Gardening became a hobby that helped as therapy during the years he had cancer.  He loved working jigsaw puzzles and could work two puzzles at a time one on top of the other.   In recent years Chuck loved going to the beach with his family.  His two daughters were married on the beach.  He said their weddings were in front of God’s miracle of creation with the view of the sky and ocean so beautiful.   Chuck’s favorite time of year was Christmas.  He would listen to Christmas music all year, his favorite’s were Silent Night and Let it be Christmas.  He loved his family…his wife, his children and their families, his grandbabies, his sisters, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents: JoAnn and Si Wright and Chester and JoAnn Bruington, his grandparents: Fred and Verna Thornhill, mother and father-in-law: Ruth and Sam Smiley, Jr., aunt and uncles: Sue and Eugene Fentress and Kenny Thornhill.

He is survived by his loving family: wife Brenda Bruington of Hardinsburg, KY

3 children: Jason Bruington and his wife Mindy, Kirby Cain and her husband Chris, Kelly-Jade Board and her husband Bradley of Hardinsburg, KY

4 grandchildren: Anna, Braylon, Emmy Lynn and Cullen

3 sisters: Robin Cox and her husband Rob of Hardinsburg, KY, Rebecca Glasscock and her husband Larry of Hardinsburg, KY, Judy Beth Oglesby and her husband Steve of Goshen

2 aunts: Judy Armes of Hardinsburg, KY and Shirley Thornhill of Harned, KY

Funeral services will be held at Hardinsburg Baptist Church on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 1 PM with Rev. Paul Gibson officiating. Burial will be in the KingswoodCemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, 3:30 – 7 PM and Monday 9 AM – 1 PM under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home.
