Alfred Preston Woods

Alfred Preston Woods, age 88 of Hardinsburg, KY died December 23, 2020 at Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY on November 22, 1932, the son of the late William McKinley and Lelar Wilkerson Woods. Alfred retired from Meade County RECC in 1987 after 33 years of service as the right of way foreman. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and the building and grounds committee. Alfred was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed playing croquet, softball, games and talking on his CB. After the death of his wife, he visited the Breckinridge County Senior Center on a regular basis and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He was a fan of UK basketball and the Breckinridge County Tigers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sally, daughter Lucinda Woods, great granddaughter Breely Grace Woods, sisters Rachel Morris, Mary Nancy Richards and Martha Johnson, brothers John, George and Ivan Woods.

Alfred is survived by his 6 children: Jannette (Donny) Wethington and Velma (Donnie, Jr.) Claycomb of Georgetown, KY, Gary Wayne Woods of Charlotte, NC, Wendall (Debora) Woods and Betty (Ricky) Whitfill of Hardinsburg, KY, Donna (Glen) McAtee of Sadieville, KY

15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren

Sister-in-law - Sue Woods of Cloverport, KY

numerous nieces and nephews

Funeral services were held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on December 30, 2020 with Rev. J.D. Holt officiating. Burial was in the New Bethel Cemetery.
