Paul Alexander Obituary

Paul Vincent Alexander, age 73 of Hardinsburg, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born March 16, 1946 in Roff to the late John and Jane Shellman Alexander.

Paul was a devout Catholic who praised God in his life daily. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Axtel and was a 1964 graduate of St. Romuald High School.

He married the love of his life, Patricia Townsend, in 1967 and loved and supported her for 52 years. Together they have two sons, Bobby and David Alexander.

Paul worked at Olin Chemical in Brandenburg for over 40 years, where he was highly respected and appreciated by many of his colleagues. His sons went on to be employed there as well.

In his free time, Paul enjoyed hunting, crappie fishing, sitting in his garage with his boys and granddaughter listening to Willie’s Roadhouse, and shooting the bull. He also spent many nights fishing bass tournaments with his son Bobby, who was his partner in winning many of the events.

He could be seen at nearly any time taking care of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren by doing anything he could to help. He adored his family and cared for them all the way until his last breath.

Paul was a dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved selflessly and powerfully. He played the role of caretaker for many of his family members over the years and was always there in times of need. His memory lives on through his family, who cared for him in his last days on Earth.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his brothers, Joe Alexander and Dick Alexander; and one sister, Susie Alexander McMahan; his mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Jim “Red” Burdette; the mother of his great-grandchildren, Dreama Woods; and his best friend and fishing partner, Pat Flood.

Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia Alexander of Hardinsburg; two sons, Bobby Alexander and his wife Rose of Axtel and David Alexander and his wife Rachel of Buras, KY; four grandchildren: Myles Alexander of Owensboro, Morgan Alexander (Chad Fillmore) of Irvington, Jake Kerr and his wife Kristen of McDaniels, and Bracher Darnall of Buras, KY; great-grandchildren: Landon and Zoey Alexander, Carlee Woods, Reagan Kerr, and Harmonee Aubrey; two brothers, Harold Alexander and his wife Debbie of Louisville and Mike Alexander and his wife Janet of Westview; brother-in-law, Jake McMahan of Mt. Washington; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Alexander of Owensboro; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Lavon Townsend of Hardinsburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family honored Paul’s cremation wishes with no funeral services. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Axtel, KY on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11 AM.
