Kenneth Dale Dowell

Kenneth Dale Dowell, age 74 of Hawesville, KY passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Frymire, KY on December 14, 1943. the son of the late Bernard and Margaret Dowell.

Ken retired from the United States Army as a CW4 in 1981 after 20 years of service. During that time he received the following medals and awards: Purple Heart, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Master Parachutist Badge. He later retired in 2002 from Owensboro High School as the JROTC instructor. Ken was a member of the VFW and American Legion and enjoyed farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Bernard Dowell and William Dowell and 2 brothers-in-law: ErmanHamilton and Jim Wiley.

3 children: Teresa Inman (Marc) of Louisville, KY

Becky Dowell and David Dowell of Columbus, Ohio

2 stepdaughters: Christy Turnham of Owensboro, KY and Amanda Hagan (Brooke) of St. Petersburg, FL

2 grandchildren: Nina Pixie and Michael Thomas Inman

3 sisters: Barbara Hamilton of Philpot, KY

Mary Wiley of Hartford, KY

Hope Stephenson (Tom) of Henderson, KY

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, KY on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 3 PM CDT. Burial with military honors will be in the Horsley Chapel Cemetery near Hardinsburg. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM CDT on Tuesday.
