Hazel Irene Smith Richards, age 100 of Hardinsburg, KY died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility. She was born in Onaga, Kansas on December 3, 1917, the daughter of the late Bertrand and Eunice Truitt Smith. Mrs. Richards was a retired church secretary, a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Hodgenville, KY, Music Club in Bardstown, KY and First Baptist Church in Hodgenville and Bardstown. She was a very active member of her churches, loved music, was a self-taught pianist and seamstress.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her husband Harold Herbert "Hal" Richards, son Harold Herbert Richards, Jr., great granddaughter Cecelia Bishop, and siblings Gail Falk, Betty Eisenbarth, Edgar Smith and Robert Smith.

Funeral services under the direction of Trent-Dowell Funeral Home will be held at Harned United Methodist Church in Harned, KY on Friday, January 5, 2017 at 10 AM CST. Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville, KY.   Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM CST on Friday.
