Garlen Alvie Willoughby, age 97 of Hardinsburg, KY died Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Falls of Rough, KY on March 2, 1922, the son of the late Alvie and Ann Ardie Shreve Willoughby. He was a WWII Army veteran, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Fordsville Masonic Lodge, Falls of Rough VFW Post, American Legion and a Kentucky Colonel. Garlen was a retired carpenter, enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, sports and working. He could often be found sitting on his porch or in the back yard enjoying the weather and waving to all who passed by. Garlen loved his family and they loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Mary Rose who died 3-16-2015, his siblings Raleigh, Henry, Jesse and Paul Lee Willoughby, Lucy Simmons and Bertie Loyd.
He is survived by 6 children: Janis Penrod (Jerry) and Linda Dyer (Gary) of Falls of Rough, KY
Sue Ford (Don), Brenda Hobbs (Dean) and Danny Willoughby (Laura) of Hardinsburg, KY
Dray Willoughby (Allison) of Irvington,KY
13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren

Funeral services will be held at Macdeonia Baptist Church in Falls of Rough, KY on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 12 PM with Rev. Arnold Moxley, Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors by the Ohio County Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, KY on Tuesday, 4-8 PM and Wednesday, 8- 11 AM.
