Elaine Ruth Sims Campbell, age 79 of Hardinsburg, KY died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. She was born in Annetta, KY on April 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert Stanley Ruth and Cora Myrtle Basham.

Elaine married at a very young age, raised 5 children and grew and matured as they did. After her first husband’s death, she worked hard and received her GED. She became a very strong independent lady who held several different jobs. They included being the proprietor of Sim’s Car Wash and Ice House, working in the housekeeping department for Rough River State Park, a caregiver at the Communicare Apple House, a farmer and working the canteen for the VFW. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting and ceramics. She was a cancer survivor for over 10 years and participated in the annual Relay for Life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Bill Sims, her son Robbie Sims and sister Judy Ruth Carnefix.

15 grandchildren: Tammy, Jesse, Laura, Kacie, Randi, Lesley, Hannah, Mike, Denny, Frannie, Lucy, Jesse, Tabitha, Jennifer and Mischelle

15 great grandchildren: Layla Kate, Haley, Lily, Ben, Anna Lee, Jake, Kendall, Ella, Westyn, Gavin, Makenna, Korbin, Kyleigh, Zoe, Gracie, Tianna, Tyler, Torrey and Taylor

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 11AM with Rev Harry Dooley officiating. Burial will be in the Providence Cemetery in Leitchfield, KY. Visitation will be held on Sunday, 4-8 PM and Monday after 8:30 AM.
