Murtha 'Murphy' Lucas, age 101 of Custer, KY died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. He was born in Breckinridge County, KY on April 18, 1916, the son of the late Rafe and Lizzie Sosh Lucas. He was a farmer, enjoyed horse racing and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Olis and his siblings: Mattie Wilkerson, Kattie Lucas, Johnny Lucas, Ben Lucas, James Lucas, Vester Lucas, Herbert Lucas, Pete Lucas, Mike Lucas and Goldie Sosh.

Mr. Lucas is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Norma and Leroy Quiggins of Custer, KY
2 grandsons - Timmy Quiggins (Wanda) and Teddy Quiggins (Lisa)
4 great grandchildren: Ashley Thomas (Adam), Brittany Tucker (Kelly), Jessica Drane (Justin) and Blake Quiggins
5 great great grandchildren: Layne Miller, Kalyn Norris, Jaxon Quiggins, Reagan Tucker, Kolby Tucker
many nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 12 PM with burial in the Cook Cemetery near Custer, KY. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to the Murtha Lucas Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
