Lois Ann Key, age 85 of Custer, KY died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Hardinsburg Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Russellville, KY on December 11, 1931, the daughter of the late James Napoleon Allen and Floria Lucille Burgitt Allen.

She enjoyed attending church services and over the years attended Custer Church of God, Custer United Methodist Church and Stinnettsville Community Church. Mrs. Key was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was loved by her family. She was a very hard worker and was a homemaker in every sense of the word - she enjoyed cooking, sewing, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, ginseng hunting with her husband, raising tobacco and peppers. Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband operated a diner in Louisville, KY before settling in the Custer area to raise their family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Haskell Key, daughter Marsha Compton, 2 grandchildren Donna Brooks and Scotty Wilson and 6 brothers and sisters Harold, J W, Ed Ray, Eleanor, Betty and Francis.

12 grandchildren: Stephanie Shaw, Samantha Shaw, Marcus Compton, James Robert "Robbie" Mattingly, Marlaina Jamison, Deanna Russ, Dana Hardin, Debra Moore, Michael Keesee, Jackie Magness, Dustin Bruce and Preston Lucas
28 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 12 PM. Burial will be in the Bennett Cemetery in Custer, KY. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 4-8 PM and Thursday after 8:30 AM.
