L. D. Laslie, age 79 of Hardinsburg, KY went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2016. He was born in Mook, KY on February 23, 1937, the son of the late Roy Bomer Laslie and Reba Lena Kinnerson.

L. D. was a faithful member and elder of Coyle Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He and his wife Laverne were the owners and operators of Laslie’s Restaurant, a favorite gathering spot for many friends in Breckinridge County. He was a retired truck driver, fire chief, carpet layer and KY Colonel. After retirement, he enjoyed spending his days at Dairy Queen, watching Walker Texas Ranger and spending time with his family and friends. He received great pleasure by spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they loved him.

He wasn’t just a father and grandfather to his family, but to those that knew him, they loved him just as much. He was the one you could call and he would talk you through step by step any home repair, just call 1-800-Daddy. He was the GPS before it was invented, call him from anywhere and he could get you from point A to B.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Dennie Laslie

L. D. is survived by his wife of 59 years Laverne Whitely Laslie

6 grandchildren: Sara Schuer (Kevin) of Lexington,KY

Lydia Higdon (Johnathan), Hannah and Hallie Powell of Leitchfield,KY

Lauren Linn (Jon) of Owensboro, KY

Emily Green of McDaniels, KY

6 great grandchildren: Brennan, Noah, Sam and Charlotte Schuer, Greyson Linn, Ella Higdon

1 brother: David Earl Laslie (Nina) of McDaniels, KY

4 sisters: Donna Butler of Dyer, KY

Wanda Tucker of Arizona

Barbara Stevenson (Jube) of Hudson,KY

Anna Nottingham (Ernie) of McDaniels, KY

Funeral services will be held at Coyle Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11 AM with Rev. Billy Carter and Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Wednesday, 4-8 PM and Thursday after 8:30 AM.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Coyle Cemetery.

L. D. devoted his life to his family, church and community. His loving legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all that knew him.
