Evelyn “Chris” Gantt, age 82 of McDaniels, KY died Friday, May 12, 2017 at Crestview Center. She was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on May 10, 1935, the daughter of the late John and Katherine  Ferreira. Chris was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and cross stitch. She was a very active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a member of the bereavement committee. She helped organize and serve at the church fish fry each year. She spent many hours volunteering at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital and Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hiram J. Gantt and her daughter Peggy Sue Gantt.

Chris is survived by her daughter Julie Benton (Jim) of Shelbyville, KY

Brother: Robert Ferreira (Marie) of Warren, RI

5 grandchildren: Emily Santiago, Katie Mayer, Austin Sowell, Christina Sowell, Lacy Blankenship

7 great grandchildren

Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Axtel, KY on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11 AM CDT with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, KY on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 3:30 - 8PM CDT and Tuesday from 8:30 – 10:30 AM CDT.
